What is Retina display?

Retina is a modern matrix, introduced to the market by Apple. Its characteristic feature is very high (4x greater than that standard matrix) pixel density. Retina screen has so high pixel density that the human eye does not distinguish a single pixel on the display. This gives you incredible picture quality and detail.

A similar solution itroduced Samsung: AMOLED screens.

Retina is also a very high screen resolution:
  • 2560 x 1600 in 13-inch MacBook Pro
  • 2880 x 1800 in 15-inch MacBook Pro
  • 960 x 640 in iPhone4 / 4s
  • 2048 x 1536 in the new iPad

Moreover Retina displays use IPS technology that enables wide viewing angles without loss of image quality.
